Dragon Races, Wine Walks, Jazz Concerts and More Complement Lake Las Vegas' Array of Outdoor Activities

 

Lake Las Vegas, Nev. (Spring/Summer 2007)— MonteLago Village Resort, Lake Las Vegas, believes in creating a complete vacation experience that encompasses not only fine dining, interesting shops, and nearby recreation—it also includes the resort’s year-long commitment to hosting a variety of events.    This spring and summer, visitors can expect to enjoy festivities such as lakeside jazz concerts, dragon boat races, wine tastings, and art shows.

 

Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17: St. Patrick’s Day Celebration –MonteLago Village and The Auld Dubliner are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration that will make even the non-Irish turn green with envy. The celebration starts early when traditional Irish singer Ashley Davis and guitarist John Walsh entertain on the Events Plaza on Friday night. On Saturday, visitors can attend a morning mass in the Chapel Fiorenza, take their children to the afternoon Irish workshop with singer Ashley Davis or watch Irish dancing in The Village throughout the day. More Emerald Isle-style entertainment is on tap for Saturday night when Davis and Walsh return to the stage from 6 to 9 p.m.  The party continues in The Auld Dubliner, where diners can enjoy food and drink specials amid décor imported from Ireland. 

 

Saturday and Sunday, April 7 & 8: Easter Weekend Celebration – Celebrate spring when the Easter Bunny greets children in The Village on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids up to 12 years old can find more than 25,000 eggs during four different Easter Egg Hunts. A voluntary $2 donation to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation ensures the Easter Egg hunt will benefit a good cause.  A petting zoo and pony rides, available for a small fee, add to the family style entertainment on both Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

 

Saturday, May 5 to Saturday, August 25: Jazz on the Lake – Every Saturday (except June 2, 30) MonteLago Village hits a high note with music fans when it hosts its popular lakeside concerts. The free Saturday concert series has become known for featuring some of the best national and local jazz artists in a relaxing atmosphere on the water’s edge. Dogs are welcome, but no coolers please. Jazz on the Lake entertains audiences from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

 

Saturday, April 14, May 12, June 23, August 11, September 1, and October 13: Wine Walks – MonteLago Village imparts a new flavor to the concept of wine tasting with its casual wine-tasting strolls. The series of Wine Walks take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wine aficionados can taste a different wine at each participating Village shop along the tour. Anyone visiting 10 or more wine stops will have the chance to win a variety of prizes.  The $30 per person or $50 per couple entry fee includes a commemorative MonteLago Village wine glass and benefits New Vista Community, a non-profit organization that will offer job skills training, recreational activities, and a variety of other programs to all developmentally disabled in the Las Vegas Valley. New this year is a $120 season pass available through Michelle Jackson at New Vista Community 702-457-4677, ext. 3 or at the first Wine Walk event.

 

Saturday & Sunday, April 21 – 22: Spring Fine Arts Festival –MonteLago Village is transformed into a picturesque open-air art gallery during the Spring Fine Arts Festival. Visitors can interact with more than 40 fine artisans from around the West, who will display their handcrafted work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

 

Friday & Saturday, May 4 & 5: Dragon Boat Festival – MonteLago Village Resort is once again hosting an event that provides both cultural interest and edge-of-the-seat excitement. The 3rd Annual Lake Las Vegas Resort FMG Dragon Boat Festival starts off with a roar on Friday at 7 p.m. during the Opening Ceremonies and the “Dotting of the Eye” celebration to awaken the dragon spirit. On Saturday, the races and entertainment begin at 10 a.m. with each team competing over a 500-meter course and a 250-meter sprint course.

 

Thursday, June 14 – Thursday, August 30: Movies Al Fresco – It’s a toss up which is more impressive: the stars on the screen at this event or the ones putting on their celestial show in the sky over Lake Las Vegas. Visitors gather at 8 p.m. on Thursdays to enjoy the free showing of movies at the water’s edge on the lawn at the MonteLago Village Events Plaza.

 

Saturday, June 30: Independence Day Celebration – Start off the July 4 festivities with a bang during a Stars on the Lake Concert featuring Three Dog Night and The Guess Who.  A fireworks display and other patriotic activities complete the celebration.

 

Select Saturdays from June through August - Stars on the Lake features big-name entertainment in the serene setting of Lake Las Vegas.
